West Leake Hills, 25th January 2015

A lovely 6 mile walk along good tracks and field paths; one gentle climb up to West Leake Hills with superb views in all directions.

Stanton on the Wolds, 21st January 2015

Nobody wanted to be photographed on today's walk - not surprising in view of our bedraggled state!  But here are some images taken when it stopped raining.

Coming your way - Farnsfield on 22nd February 2015

As you drive down the A6097 just before the Oxton by-pass, you may have wondered about those lumps on the horizon to your left. Well this walk will take you up to the most southerly one, the buried remains of Farnsfield Roman camp.

We start at Farnsfield's Parish Church of St Michael

and will get to the camp in time for coffee and spend some time enjoying the 360 degree views.

We must retrace our steps a bit and pick up the Robin Hood Way from which we have some more panoramic views to the north ...

... and then head for the Parish Church of St Giles at ...

We can then go back to Farnsfield along the Southwell Trail ...

... but some of us may like to take a diversion to see the red deer and famous potato fields in Hexgreave Park to the north of Farnsfield.  This will add half an hour to the walk.

Lady Spencer’s Walk, Teversal, 11th January 2015

Starting in Teversal ...

... this walk, the so-called Lady Spencer’s Walk, took us on the Teversal and Skegby & Rowthorne Trails...
... along the bed of the old railway in deep cuttings through the local magnesian limestone ...
... through the grounds of Hardwick Hall ...
Hardwick Old Hall
... and back to the Visitors Centre where more relics were on display.
