West Leake, Zouch and Soar Valley, 13th September 2015

This 8 mile walk started near Zouch, a small canal hamlet previously the site of a water mill dating back to before the Doomsday Book, 1086.  We walked along Zouch Cut,

... to Normanton and across fields and woods ...

... towards West Leake.  Passing (but unfortunately not stopping at) the Star Inn we walked through the parklands of St Anne's Manor (1848).

Then a treat for Rod and Stewart (and a greeting of some sort from the driver) ...

... before lunch at St Anne's Church in Sutton Bonington.
The sheep are safely gathered in after lunch
We reached the navigation again near the Devil's Elbow, a bipassed section of the river ...

... and back to our start point via Zouch Lock.
