Bramcote Hills, Hemlock stone and the Erewash Valley Trail, 1st September 2024

 Phil's 7-mile morning walk, starting at Bramcote Hills Park, took fiften members first to the Hemlock Stone, over Stapleford Hill and along the Nottingham Canal before crossing the Erewash Valley to Trowell for a coffee stop.  After joining the Erewash Canal as far as the Gallows Lock, we recrossed the Erewash to follow the Nottingham Canal back to Bramcote Hills Park Woodland and the start making use of a section or the Erewash Valley Trail.

The 12-mile Erewash Canal, built in 1779, starts at Trentlock and ends at Langley Mill where it joins both the Nottingham and Cromford Canals.  It was used mainly for transporting coal
